Luxist Holiday Guide: Candles

Candles aren’t the most original gifts ever but they are easy, after all everyone can use candles. The trick is to find ones that smell wonderful. We won’t be sending you to one of those stores in the mall where the noxious scent wafts out and stings the unsuspecting. Instead here is a list of candles that truly smell fantastic.

What: Sage Machado Candles

Why: Los Angeles-based jewelry designer Sage Machado has a line of candles named after gems. The intensely-scented candles have a Hollywood following and come in beautiful fabric containers.

How Much: THe 8 oz. candle is $56, the 3 oz. travel candle is $26.

Why: Chocolate candles can be a risky venture but the Thymes collection does it right, layering chocolate with scents of ginger, cassis, mandarin or saffron. The overall effect is lush and spicy rather than sugary.
