Candles aren’t the most original gifts ever but they are easy, after all everyone can use candles. The trick is to find ones that smell wonderful. We won’t be sending you to one of those stores in the mall where the noxious scent wafts out and stings the unsuspecting. Instead here is a list of candles that truly smell fantastic.
You might be familiar with Francois Nars for his makeup line but Nars also has created a line of candles. The candles are simply packaged in red, white or black glass with the Nars logo and burn for 70 hours. The latest scent is Jaipur, a citrus blend with notes of pomegranate and light florals and a warm base of amber and vanilla. The emerald and yellow sapphire confection seen here is just one of the many enchanting designs of Dallas-based jeweler Matthew Trent. Trent is perhaps best known for his stackable rings and use of brightly colored gemstones. He also has a studio where he does amazing custom designs, some of which can be seen on his website. The ring shown here sells for $6400.
Prince Edward of Wales certainly knew how to show his love for Wallis Simpson. The man who gave up a kingdom for love, gave the object of his affection this amazing Cartier brooch with their initials W and E done is rubies and sapphires. The brooch is now for sale again at Bonhams in London on Dec. 7. The auction has an estimate of up to 35,000 pounds ($67,729), lower than the $95,333 it brought when it was first on the market in the 1980s. …
