Zelens Day Cream

Thursday, January 1st, 1970

Whenever I hear of a new face cream I always get a bit thrilled, what new expensiveness can I slather on my face to ease the ravages of time? The ultra-pricey creams tend to often include ultramodern packaging and rare extracts I have never heard of but the Zelens cream comes in a simple green glass jar and has an active ingredient Fullerene C-60, an anti-oxidant for which a team of scientists received a Nobel Prize for chemistry in 1997. The company …

Mikimoto Vintage Jewelry Collection

Thursday, January 1st, 1970

Mikimoto pearls are going vintage this fall. Their new Vintage Jewelry Collection reaches back into the Mikimoto archives to bring out designs with an Art Deco style. The new collection of four pendants, three pairs of earrings and a one-of-a-kind necklace are based on illustrations from old Mikimoto catalogs. The pieces have pavé diamonds as well as pearls and are set in 18k white gold, with the exception of the one-off necklace, which is in platinum. The pieces sell for between $2,750 and $6,300 with the exception of the platinum …

Remember Ring

Thursday, January 1st, 1970

The Remember Ring is designed to do exactly what its name says it will: aid in remembering an important date or event. The rings are waterproof and come in yellow and white gold. The website has some conflicting information about the ring’s availability, so it is best to call for more information. Assuming, of course, that you remember.

Turntable Ring

Thursday, January 1st, 1970

Designed by Jacob & Co jewelers, this 18K gold Turntable Ring features an arrangement of black and white diamonds that make up a tiny turntable. The accessory could be a good one for a musician or a music lover, but at $12,900 it’s probably going to end up adding some bling to the hand of a DJ or used as an engagement ring on an appropriate reality show.

Paul Smith Story

Thursday, January 1st, 1970

I love the bottle for the Paul Smith scent, Paul Smith Story. Shaped like a book, the bottle can stand upright or lie down flat. The vial is made of thick glass that “allow[s] the green glow of old apothecary bottles to shine through,” giving it not only a distinctive look, but a sturdy feel. The idea behind the name is that they layered scent builds as you are exposed to it, starting with notes of grapefruit and bergamot, before progressing to jasmine and other florals. It is both romantic and provocative, a scent suitable for wearing both …
